QGroup GmbH

HISTORY

The creation and development of the QGroup

Founded in 1993 by Thomas Blumenthal, QGroup began at a time of fundamental technological change. Driven by a childhood fascination with computers that was awakened on a Sinclair ZX 81, a lifelong dedication to technology followed, which eventually manifested itself in the creation of a company that is now known as a force to be reckoned with in the field of cybersecurity.

QGroup's early focus on military security systems with the PitBull® Trusted Operating System (now owned by General Dynamics) since 1997 established the company as a competent player in a demanding field. The QTrust server, introduced in 2000 for Deutsche Bahn, demonstrated the company's potential to develop and provide customized security solutions.

In 2001, QGroup filed a patent application for »global load balancing via DNS«. This patent is proof of QGroup's innovative strength, even though similar technologies already existed in the industry.

The following years saw continued innovation such as QTrust 2go (three-factor authentication) in 2008, the acquisition of Argus Systems Group (the then company behind PitBull® ) by General Dynamics in 2012, making QGroup the European PitBull® , and the introduction of a cyberimmune system based on reactive security. QGroup's status as a »Center of Excellence« by General Dynamics was recognition of its continuous pursuit of technological excellence.

The expansion of business activities to include reactive security from 2013 reflects an awareness that effective security must not only be preventative, but also reactive. The introduction of the Mobile Incident Response Centers from 2020 demonstrates the desire to enable rapid and autonomous responses to security incidents.

With the move to the QGroup Base in Wehrheim in 2022 and the opening of the QGroup Forum two years later, the company is demonstrating its commitment to creating space for innovation and fostering community.

The relocation of the company headquarters to Wehrheim and the establishment of the QGroup Forum in 2024 mark the company's latest expansion course. QGroup's thirtieth anniversary in 2023 symbolizes not only the company's longevity, but also its ability to adapt to the changing conditions of the cybersecurity market and grow steadily.
